Starter Procrastination-II

Sometimes there is a sign and you just can’t drive by. In this cause, I couldn’t drive at all. I was sitting in my car after stopping at Walgreens for toothpaste and bandaids, trying for 10 minutes to get the darn thing to start.

No Luck.

About 100 yards (or less) in front of me is a Hogan Tire & Auto Service Center. Finally, after living with the problem for about a year, I decided to just get the damn thing fixed. So, after about 12 minutes of trying, the car starts and I pull in to the HT&ASC, leaving the car running, just in case they can’t take it today.

The good news is that they could take it and the cost for the starter is less then half the price quoted by the dealer. So I figured while I’m there I’d get the oil changed, tires balanced, rotated and aligned. All still for less then half of the starter from the dealer.

Fingers crossed it all goes well. I remain optimistic frankly. Yippee!

Parking lots and Supermarkets

I just ran a quick errand for The Kid(tm). She needed something for a “last day of drama class” party. I bought nuts.

Anyway, I went to Shaw’s, a local mid-scale supermarket to get said nuts. Good news, they were on sale with my Shaw’s card but I had a chance to look at the prices on some of my staple foods. Apples were $1.79/lb. At MarketBasket, I pay $0.99/lb. On sale, $0.89. These are the same apples. Same label, number, poisons. Same. Lettuce, Peppers, Tomatoes, keep going. Unless it’s on sale at Shaw’s, it ’s less at MarketBasket. Take that to the bank! Shameless and uncompensated plug over.

When exactly did it become ok to leave your shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot? I know this has been going on a long time but when did it move from the act of a lone anti-social miscreant and migrate into the “normal behavior” column? For the record, I always return my cart to the coral. Does this make me better then you? YES, if you don’t do as I do.

Starter Procrastination

Is that an oxymoron?

The starter on my car has been flakey for months, or is it about a year now? Yeah, about a year now. I’ve been putting off getting it replaced because I can always (so far) get the car started within about 2 minutes. Well, the past few days its been up to 10 minutes to get the engine to turn over.

I think it’s time to stop my starter procrastination.

Later…

I’ve never done this before…

When exactly was the last time I could say that? Nevermind.

I’m still learning my way around Wordpress. Why did I choose this? Well, because it was easy to install is why. I have no clue what all the quicktags do but I’ll figure them out. Figuring stuff out is what I do for a living after all.

What sort of stuff do I expect to post on? Probably general observations. This morning, for some reason, I was noticing telephone poles. Has anyone ever considered how many of these things exist just in the USA and what sort of trees are they made from? Well, when I was a kid, my parents told me that there were special trees and farms growing these special trees. Now that we have Google, I thought I would check that out and I find something at Yahoo:
( What kinds of trees are used to make telephone poles?)

I haven’t started to research how many are in use in the USA but I will. Later.

Wikipedia has an entry. It’s not very statisfying I have to say.
