Why no spray can?

I’m up early, drinking what might be my last cup of coffee for 6 weeks, or more, surfing the web and watching TV. The show is on an ancient extinct lion called Thylacoleo carnifex. An interesting show, to be sure, but not being an archaeologist myself, I see something which strikes me as very odd. The scientists have found a very rare intact skeleton of Thylacoleo. It’s very fragile and cannot be moved or even touched until a special glue is gently brushed on the bones. You can tell the care they take in doing this, covering every surface. I’m thinking, why don’t they use a spray? Seems to me like an easy, safe time saver. But hey, what do I know?
